About Attorney Medrano
Lyris Medrano zealously represents injured people in personal injury and worker’s compensation claims. She was admitted to practice before the Wisconsin Courts in 2008. She is fluent in Spanish.
Lyris grew up in Chicago's Logan Square and Humboldt Park neighborhoods where she volunteered to social justice efforts and worked hard to be a good student. From a young age, she has been committed to serving her community and she is committed to being a positive role model and mentor.
In 2002, Lyris earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a dual major in Psychology and Criminology from Dominican University in River Forest, Illinois. She went on to work in social services for several years, first caring for medically complex children in a group home in Chicago and later as a DCFS-licensed case manager serving families in northwest Cook County.
Lyris earned her law degree from Marquette University Law School in 2008. While in law school she interned at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, volunteered at the Milwaukee County Courthouse Pro-Se Clinic and represented claimants with the Marquette Unemployment Compensation Clinic. She was also selected to compete at the Robert F. Wagner National Labor and Employment Law Moot Court Competition held at the New York Law School.
Lyris is a volunteer attorney with the Marquette Volunteer Legal Clinic at the United Community Center (UCC) in Milwaukee. She served as an executive board member and is former-President of the Milwaukee Chapter of the Labor Council for Latin American Advancement (LCLAA). She previously served as Vice-Chair of the Latino Caucus of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin. She is a proud member of the Wisconsin Association of Worker’s Compensation Attorneys. She has often provided free presentations in the community to help educate others about the rights of injured workers in Wisconsin.
She enjoys spending her free time with her husband, George, their sons, Adrian and Abel.
